i'm in kamakura and just stumbled upon something pretty cool. stumbled upon the grave of minamoto no yoritomo who was one of the first...he was the one that created the samurai government kind of thing. i just climbed up a bunch of stairs. out of breath.
Sengakuji Temple, pretty close to tsurugaoka hachimangu. minamoto no yoritomo beat out taira in the genpei wars. and he started the bakufu, which is the samurai government.
this is his grave. he is kind of the person who started the whole samurai thing. if it wasn't for him samurai culture would not be what it is today. and the samurai would not of been that big of a deal. he's the one made it to where the samurai became the ruling class. really really cool. i didn't even know this was here. i knew that he started the bakufu in kamakura. it was likely that it was here.
